Abstract

This paper reports on concerns of students’ assessment and evaluation of their learning in secondary schools. Today, there are no clear criteria in secondary education system for assessing intended learning outcomes understandable to students, parents and teachers. The paper presents the results of factor analysis which was applied to study attitudes of students to the current assessment system based on five-point grading scale basis.
Discussing «dissatisfaction» 5-score evaluation system that society has a right to its existence, at least from the point of view of the interviewed students. The majority of respondents (26,0 % + 44.4 %) agreed that the existing 5-score evaluation system determines the assimilation, understanding, and most importantly, the practical application of the material studied.
