Abstract

The results of theoretical and empirical research of orphans’ preparation to independent living according to such criteria as the readiness of orphans’ to family life, their social competence and professional readiness are presented in this article. The starting position of the research results is the need of foster parents’ social and pedagogical support in order to introduce new forms and methods of older adolescents training for independent living in conditions of family-type homes. Examples of developed and successfully tested training assignments for foster parents are listed in this article. These forms and methods of support aimed at improving the performance of orphans on their self as a family man, citizen and worker, the implementation of the exchange of experiences between parents, teachers and preventing emotional burnout. The results of this investigation can be applied in specialists’ practice for social and pedagogical support in conditions of family-type homes.
