The Role of Educational Program in Realization of Competence-based approach
Abstract
New approaches to the organization of the higher education set new requirements for development of educational programs. The inclusion of information on competencies generated in the learning process is important for employers.The systems of communication and information are developing and becoming more and more sophisticated. In the process of such a rapid exchange of information there is a need for competent translators. Competence-based approach is the method of achievement of new quality of education. Competence-based approach strengthens the practical orientation of education, underlines the necessity of gaining experience activity, ability in practice to realize knowledge. The article discusses the importance of improving the translation skills of students.The translation will allow students to open the doors to an unknown cultural and linguistic world. Translation is a difficult skill which must be done well in order to be productive and rewarding. Learners not only have to take into account meaning but also a range of other issues. Discussion of differences and similarities during the translation process helps students to understand the interaction of the two languages. Students should read and translate different genres of materials, published articles of scientists, journals on theoretical and practical aspects of translation. The articles will not only improve the students’ reading skills in general, but also give them insights which will subconsciously be applied when actually translating. Translation is the key to international understanding. So in this vast world of communication and information overload, we need competent translators who have both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
