Implementation of distance learning in universities of Kazakhstan: SWOT analysis

n the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Kazakhstan, from March 16, 2020, all higher educational institutions have switched to the provision of educational services in a dis- tance form. Universities have connected to digital platforms (MOODLE, Canvas, PLATONUS, UNIVER, etc.). Access to the Internet was expanded, step-by-step Instructions and an algorithm for the use of dis- tance learning technologiesfor students and teaching staff of universities were developed. HelpDesk and Call-centers have been created in all universities for consultation. The current and final assessments were carried out online. Accommodation in hostels for nonresident and foreign students is provided. The sending of students within the framework of academic mobility and other programs to all foreign countries was suspended.
The purpose of this article is to conduct a SWOT analysis to study the preparedness of teachers, students for distance learning, research the emotional state of respondents, the availability and quality of technical equipment during distance learning and in self-isolation. A survey of teachers and students about the quality of teaching and learning organized in distance learning, support from the university, the emotional state of teachers and students, preparedness for distance learning was carried out. 153 teachers and 795 students took part in the survey. Surveys were conducted on the basis of the University of Turan-Astana and the Kazakh University of Technology and Business.
