Methodological features of the study of O. Balzac’s novel “Gobsek” in high school as a translated work

The article examines the social contradictions in Honoré de Balzac’s story “Gobsek”. Many of his works are devoted to the life of French provinces, poor and aristocrats and published in the form of philosophical short stories illustrating social contradictions. In the modern educational process the image of the moneylender Gobsek is revealed and analyzed with the effective application of innovative-technological methods of translated work, which contribute to the development of creative abilities of students, independent study of the problem of the main ideas, artistic features of the translated work.
Within the framework of interactive methods used in the methodology of teaching literature in higher school, the ways of comprehensive disclosure of the image of the main character Gobsek are shown. When discussing philosophical, social problematic issues, the opinions of methodological scholars on critical thinking and dialogical learning are taken into account. Among the methods used in practical seminar classes on the disclosure of the hero’s image, the authors use the task in the form of graphics “Into the world of heroes”. In addition, a special research paper is conducted, which promotes the development of students’ critical thinking through group work given to four groups in order to fully assimilate the main idea of Balzac’s story “Gobsek”, revealing the hero’s image from different angles. The article also compiles a questionnaire necessary for the disclosure of the image of Gobsek and indicates the results of learning achieved by students. 63 students of the Kazakh National Women's Training University took part in the experiment. The article presents the results of experimental work.
