Abstract

Some ways of teaching grammar in the process of developing communicative competence in the target language. Instead the dominant approach – learning the grammar of a foreign language of the twentieth century, in the twenty-first century a priority in language teaching was the teaching of a foreign language as a means of communication. Communicative competence consists of four main components: grammatical or linguistic competence, discourse competence, social-cultural competence, and strategic competence. The article deals with one of the actual problems of foreign language teaching methodology the problem of teaching grammar within the framework of communicative Language Teaching. In order to develop communicative competence in the target language the students need to acquire grammar or linguistic competence so that they can use language structures adequately in the process of communication. It is important to identify what amount of knowledge of grammar is essential for competent graduates of language universities.
