Update of the Master’s Program on the Basis of Action Research Project: Academic Skills Development Issues in Theory and Practice

The national project "Quality Education - An Educated Nation" provides for systematically implementing the Action Research approach in the education system. According to the future-oriented project "Knowledge and Skills 2030" of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), quality education, skills, abilities and competencies, continuous learning, goal setting, critical thinking, creativity, self-awareness - The importance of improving and developing self-regulation, "learning to learn", cognitive and metacognitive skills. The problems identified at the domestic and foreign levels in the formation of Master's research and academic writing skills, according to the results of numerous studies in this field, are associated with the gap between theory and practice, low level of information and communication skills, difficulties in processing statistical data, working with bibliography using information programs. The article considers the need for consistent implementation of the research project in action within the framework of the Master's program of Kazakhstan to bridge the gap between theory and practice and improve the quality of scientific research of Master's theses and academic writing. This argument was confirmed by a collaborative experimental study in three cycles based on a research project in action on the ZOOM platform (because this platform is actively used in the educational process and is the most accessible resource while having advantages of both technical, organizational, and creative nature), to determine the impact of cognitive and metacognitive reading strategies on the academic performance of first-year students of the Faculty of Philology. The improvement of the proposed project by the requirements of the success criteria and its introduction into the Master's program of the scientific and pedagogical profile of Kazakhstan can solve the problems of theory and practice in the field of education and science.
